I was curious to know how much blood is shared between all the offspring using a visual aid. Using the same structure as the tree above, I assigned a different color to the original five guppies and the red rose tails. With each cross, I calculated the total amount of blood that is shared. Gandalf (blue) has the largest portion as he was the one that was backcrossed. The shared blood from each of the original females begins to decrease with each cross that is mixed. If I did not begin introducing the red roses, the amount of shared blood from the original four females would have stabilized to around 6.25% in each offspring. The cross labels in purple have not occurred yet and are currently planned but are subject to change.
